Women's health

What is Women’s Health?

Women’s Health is an area of Physiotherapy that helps treat issues experienced by women through all phases of life. Complex assessment and treatment of musculoskeletal pain, incontinence, pelvic floor dysfunction, pre and post natal conditions, osteoporosis, menopause, lymphedema, exercise and post breast cancer and gynaecological surgery rehabilitation.

Our Women’s Health Service

Annabel Butler is our Leap Health go-to physiotherapist for women’s health services including; continence issues, pre and post natal pelvic floor assessments, pregnancy related pain conditions (e.g. pelvic pain, back pain) and abdominal separation concerns (rectus diastasis).Whilst all physiotherapists have a basic knowledge and understanding of this area of practice, Annabel’s interest has sparked her to engage in additional training in women’s health, increasing her depth of knowledge and utilise evidence based best practice. She is also able to guide you with safe pre and post natal exercises, to ensure the function of your pelvic floor is optimised during and after pregnancy.

At Leap Health we also have Physiotherapists at each location who are highly skilled in using ultrasound therapy to treat mastitis. They are able to provide acute treatment as well as ongoing education and prevention techniques for lactating women.

Having a physiotherapist’s input to help care for your pelvic floor before, during and after pregnancy can give you peace of mind and a sense of control over your body. Annabel practices at our New Town clinic.
