Born and raised in Hobart, Ben spent 18 months in Melbourne completing his dietetics studies at La Trobe University, graduating at the end of 2025. During his training, he completed a 10-week clinical placement at Royal Melbourne Hospital, including five weeks in the colorectal ward, where he gained valuable experience supporting patients with complex nutritional needs. He also undertook a public health nutrition placement in Shepparton, working alongside community dietitians and developing an appreciation for the different challenges and opportunities across both community and hospital settings.
Ben has a broad range of clinical interests, including sports nutrition, nutrition management alongside GLP-1 medications, malnutrition prevention, colorectal disease, irritable bowel syndrome (IBS), oncology, and renal disease. He is passionate about helping people achieve practical and sustainable nutrition outcomes that fit their individual goals and lifestyles.
Alongside his dietetics career, Ben has worked at The Running Edge for more than 10 years. Through this role, he has developed strong connections with local podiatrists, physiotherapists, and other healthcare professionals, helping clients find suitable footwear to support their health, performance, and recovery.
Outside of work, Ben is a keen runner and can often be found participating in local fun runs. He has proudly represented Tasmania on multiple occasions throughout both his junior and senior athletics career. As both a dietitian and athlete, he also enjoys cooking and sharing good food, with roast vegetables and spaghetti bolognese among his favourite meals. At home, life is kept busy by his wife, three cats, and one dog—a poodle who firmly believes she is a cat, making for a household that often feels more like a zoo.
