A weekend warrior, Brad enjoys playing football and basketball, travelling and watching live music.
Here we spend five minutes with Brad so can you get to know him further.
1. A lot of people are confused about what an exercise physiologist does, can you describe what you do?
Very simply, we use exercise as medicine. For example, we know how your cardiovascular system works and how exercise can help your heart.
2. Can you describe your typical patient?
That’s a very hard question as I get a huge diversity in the type of patient I see! However, it is quite common for our patients to have multiple conditions. For example, a patient may suffer from high blood pressure and osteoarthritis. Therefore, they need a very tailored program that doesn’t negatively affect either of these conditions.
3. What do you love most about being an exercise physiologist?
I get to do something different nearly every hour of my day and show people how to help themselves.
4. Why did you decide to become an exercise physiologist?
I like helping people and understanding how the body works.
5. What’s your best tip for a weekend warrior?
Your body needs preparation. If you expect to do anything without training, you are probably going to hurt yourself.
6. What is your favourite meal, breakfast, lunch or dinner?
Breakfast. You can have anything you want!
7. My motto is…
If you want to do something, don’t hesitate to do it.
8. You wouldn’t know it but…
I’ve travelled halfway across the world to experience some amazing live music, enjoying the Coachella music festival in 2014.
9. I’m inspired by…
People that are facing serious problems and instead of worrying about them, they put their head down and go about fixing them.
10. I can’t live without…
Music.
11. Tea or coffee?
I don’t drink hot drinks, so neither.
12. If you could be a superhero for one day, what would you be?
Batman.
