Ara graduated from The University of Peradeniya, Sri Lanka with a Bachelor of Science in physiotherapy in 2010. He worked as a temporary lecturer for 1 year at university of Peradeniya Sri Lanka. He also had an opportunity to do an internship with the Sri Lanka men’s national cricket team for 4 months during the 2011 T20 world cup and had an opportunity to work with the National Physiotherapist at the time. Ara also took up a 4-month mentorship program in Singapore with Singapore National Netball team physiotherapist in 2013. Since moving to Australia in 2015 he worked in a private practice in Gympie QLD until December 2022.

Ara’s clinical areas of interest are sports and exercise Physiotherapy and musculoskeletal Physiotherapy. Ara is currently studying Master of Sports and Exercise Physiotherapy at La Trobe University Melbourne. He has also done several courses outside of this in his ongoing education including: McKenzie technique for lower back pain lower, Mulligan technique for neck and upper limb, APA neurological physiotherapy level 1 and 2, APA Cardiothoracic physio level 1.

Ara keeps himself busy outside of work with his very active 2.5-year-old daughter! He plays basketball and mixed netball with his Royal Hobart Hospital colleagues and enjoys travelling and trying out different food.
