Five minutes with Lara Matuszek

Having recently joined the Leap Health team, we are excited to have Lara Matuszek as one of our physiotherapists at our Kingston practice.

Lara is passionate about empowering people with the right information to get them back to what they love doing and is even happier when she gets to be a part of that process. A flute player, futsal lover and keen learner, Lara is a great addition to our team.

Here we spend five minutes with Lara so you can get to know her a little better.

1. What’s the thing you love most about being a physiotherapist?

Essentially, it’s just watching people get back to what they love doing. If I can be a part of that process, it’s a wonderful feeling. I also think it’s really important to empower people with exercises, stretches and information. That way you are giving them the tools to take control of their own bodies and help them manage their own conditions. I also love the fact that I’ll never know everything, and I will never stop learning in this field.

2. What’s your best tip for a weekend warrior?

Give your body the rest, hydration and nutrients it requires. I think stretching and resting are two underestimated parts of a training program.

3. What is your favourite meal, breakfast, lunch or dinner?

I’m more of a dinner person.

I have too many favourite foods, but anything with chicken, pork or potato is a winner.

4. My motto is…

Be kind.

5. You wouldn’t know it but…

I play the flute! I’ve also tried almost every sport from dancing to horse riding but my passion is soccer/futsal.

6. I’m inspired by…

Resilient and kind people.

7. I can’t live without…

My family, husky and futsal.

8. Tea or coffee?

I love both! I drink herbal tea (green infused with blueberry) in the mornings and have 1 cup of coffee every 1-2 days.

9. If you could be a superhero for one day, what would you be?

The Green Lantern! He can create anything that he can imagine, so why not!
